I started taking photos of the mountains with my first decent camera the Nikon F3 about 20 years ago. This camera has been to everywhere with me from the summit of Denali to the base of Everest in Nepal. I have scraped it on rock climbs in the Sawtooths and deep-froze it to 40 in Alaska. It has not failed me once.
Over the last two years I have been shooting with a digital single lens reflex camera (DSLR). Although it is not any smaller, and it is much more complicated to use, I enjoy both the quality and the convenience. My first DSLR was the very popular D70. This is a great camera. Most of the pictures on this web page were taken with this camera.
A few months ago I picked up the newer and even more capable Nikon D200. So far I have shot a few thousand photos with it this winter, and I am even more happy. The auto focus is better, the exposures are better, and the resolution is better.
I have also picked up some lenses. My new favorite is the 15-55 f2.8. This my third "pro" Nikon lens. The others are the 70-200 and the12-24. With these three lenses I have everything I need, except lightweight and inexpensive. Hopefully the photos are worth it. I also picked up a macro lens and a lightweight 50mm lens.
If you would like a copy of any photo, please just ask me. If I know who you are, or if you were the subject of any of my photos, I would be glad to send you a copy of the full resolution jpg. Just send me an email.
